Gaz & Lois Hill – Working in Local Schools
We are Gaz and Lois, part of the Eldership team at Liberty Church, in Newport South Wales. We have a particular focus on pioneering new work into communities, schools etc. We have 2 kids, Macey who is 9 and Hudson who is 5 and we love that we get to be on this adventure with them!
We absolutely love meeting new people, sharing God’s Hope into communities and eating together wherever we can!
Over the last year or so, God has opened so many doors for us as a church into a number of public, non-faith primary schools with children aged 4-11) to share the gospel. This is an absolute miracle, as so many do not allow Christians in, let alone allow you to be open about Jesus.
We have been able to regularly host assemblies for 100's of children, openly sharing who God is, Godly values and introducing faith filled songs. Recently we have started a weekly lunch time club in one of the schools, specifically learning about Hero’s in the Bible and what it looks like to live our lives trusting God. We have had so many sign up we have had to cap it and will look to run more!
None of the schools we are working in are faith schools… just a few weeks ago the head in one of the schools sat with Gaz and I, and was keen to see how we can get more kids to hear the Gospel, he even said ‘after all you are fishers of men’. This head teacher is not a Christian but has been so impacted by our work and wants more kids to be a part of it.
Alongside working directly with the children, we have also spent time with parents and whole families providing parenting courses. This is a great opportunity to be face to face with parents, being Jesus in the community.
Most recently we have also been working with the teachers, supporting them in anyway we can which shows the love of Jesus.
We are so thankful for these opportunities, as God opens the door, we are trusting Him as we run through!
